NLWSNet: a weakly supervised network for visual sentiment analysis in mislabeled web images

Luo-yang Xue, Qi-rong Mao, Xiao-hua Huang, Jie Chen,mao_qr@ujs.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 9,   Pages 1267-1412 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900618

Abstract: Large-scale datasets are driving the rapid developments of deep convolutional neural networks for . However, the annotation of large-scale datasets is expensive and time consuming. Instead, it is easy to obtain weakly labeled web images from the Internet. However, noisy labels still lead to seriously degraded performance when we use images directly from the web for training networks. To address this drawback, we propose an end-to-end network, which is robust to mislabeled web images. Specifically, the proposed attention module automatically eliminates the distraction of those samples with incorrect labels by reducing their attention scores in the training process. On the other hand, the special-class activation map module is designed to stimulate the network by focusing on the significant regions from the samples with correct labels in a approach. Besides the process of feature learning, applying regularization to the classifier is considered to minimize the distance of those samples within the same class and maximize the distance between different class centroids. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations on well- and mislabeled web image datasets demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the related methods.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2018, Volume 19, Issue 2,   Pages 260-272 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601679

Abstract: Automatic classification of sentiment data (e.g., reviews, blogs) has many applications in enterpriseHowever, it is difficult to train an accurate sentiment classifier for different domains. One of the major reasons is that people often use different words to express the same sentiment in differentSo, the accuracy of the sentiment classifier will decline sharply when we apply a classifier trainedpropose a novel approach called words alignment based on association rules (WAAR) for cross-domain sentiment

Systems biomedical analysis of Schistosoma japonicum

Ze-Guang HAN MD,

Frontiers of Medicine 2010, Volume 4, Issue 2,   Pages 157-165 doi: 10.1007/s11684-010-0034-5

Abstract: Human schistosomiasis, caused mainly by three principal species including , , and , remains a major public health concern worldwide. is prevalent in southern China, being a major disease risk for 66 million people. The blood fluke has a complex life cycle for survival: as a free-living form in fresh water and as a parasite in the snail intermediate and vertebrate definitive hosts. Systems-based biomedical analyses, including genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and metabonomic approaches, have been performed on the schistosome. These comprehensive investigations have not only characterized the genomic features but also chartered gene and protein expression profiles across genders and developmental stages. The integration of the huge information will lay a global and solid foundation for the molecular architecture of the biology, pathogenesis, and host-parasite interactions of the human blood fluke, which will facilitate the development of a new antischistosomal vaccine and drugs as well as diagnostic markers for the treatment and control of schistosomiasis.

Numerical analysis and experimental investigation of modal properties for the gearbox in wind turbine

Pengxing YI,Peng HUANG,Tielin SHI

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2016, Volume 11, Issue 4,   Pages 388-402 doi: 10.1007/s11465-016-0404-z

Abstract:

Wind turbine gearbox (WTG), which functions as an accelerator, ensures the performance and service life of wind turbine systems. This paper examines the distinctive modal properties of WTGs through finite element (FE) and experimental modal analyses. The study is performed in two parts. First, a whole system model is developed to investigate the first 10 modal frequencies and mode shapes of WTG using flexible multi-body modeling techniques. Given the complex structure and operating conditions of WTG, this study applies spring elements to the model and quantifies how the bearings and gear pair interactions affect the dynamic characteristics of WTGs. Second, the FE modal results are validated through experimental modal analyses of a 1.5 WM WTG using the frequency response function method of single point excitation and multi-point response. The natural frequencies from the FE and experimental modal analyses show favorable agreement and reveal that the characteristic frequency of the studied gearbox avoids its eigen-frequency very well.
